October 22, 2010

Sonny Bala & The Moonglows from Singapore, featuring Sonny Bala (lead, vocals), Teddy Song (bass), Donald Thaver (rhythm), Roslan Ismail (organ) and Mohd. (Sanny) Bin Ismail (drums) with the instrumental hit “Tropical Night” from their first EP in 1965. By 1967 when they released their second record with “Your cheatin’ heart,” the lineup had changed with Edward Jansen (rhythm) and Granville De Silva (bass). The group also accompanied and recorded with some popular singers like Veronica Young and Wilson David on Philips label.

Your cheatin’ heart, will make you weep
You’ll cry and cry, and try to sleep.
But sleep won’t come, the whole night through,
Your cheatin heart, will tell on you.

When tears come down, like falling rain,
You’ll toss around, and call my name.
You’ll walk the floor, the way I do,
Your cheatin’ heart, will tell on you.

Your cheatin’ heart, will pine some day
And crave the love, you threw away.
The time will come, when you’ll be blue,
Your cheatin’ heart, will tell on you.
